September 30th - Presumpscot Chat

Monday, September 30, 2024

Dear Families,
Welcome to the October edition of our school newsletter! We have so many exciting things happening at Presumpscot. Here’s a look at what’s coming up and some highlights from last month.

Upcoming Events:

  • Grades 3-5 Clubs: We will start clubs at Presumpscot on Thursday, October 17, and Friday, October 18. Clubs will be offered from 2:45 to 3:25 every Thursday and Friday. We generated a list of clubs and asked students to vote on which clubs should run. To fund clubs, we are selling trucker hats for $25. For each sale, $10 will go to the club fund. They are cool hats! – see photo. Please reach out to Mo (reillm@portlandschools.org) if you are interested in purchasing one.
  • Indigenous Peoples' Weekend: There is no school on Friday, October 11, and Monday, October 14.
  • Picture Day: Friday, October 25, will be picture day at Presumpscot. More information will be sent home with your student in the upcoming weeks. We will be using Strawbridge Studios again this year. Picture retake day will be December 13th.
  • Student Led Conferences: Mark your calendars for November 6 and 7th. We are using an electronic calendar this year to schedule conferences. This will be shared soon. You can sign up online for your student’s student led conference based on your schedule.
  • Veterans Day: There will be no school on Monday, November 11, in celebration of our veterans.

Classroom Highlights:

  • 5th Grade Art: Our students have been busy in art class! 5th grade students are making identity trading cards. They are really cool.
  • Band and Strings: All 5th grade students are in band. That is so cool. We are excited for them to have the opportunity to learn an instrument.

If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out to us via email or text/call me at (207)894-8147.

Warm regards,

Angie Taylor
