Hello, Presumpscot Community!

Friday was a great day. As I wrote on Facebook, it was one of those moments where you get to see ingenuity, passion, kindness, and joy come together. Natasha and Rebecca planned and led a Better World Day experience that included hanging tiny libraries that were designed by 3rd graders and made by PATHS students, building a new path that includes original artwork by Presumpscot students that describes our environment, and a dedication to our very favorite book giver, Emily. Thank you, Natasha and Rebecca, for engaging our community on Friday.

 

Educator Appreciation Week:

This week is Educator Appreciation Week. This includes teachers, staff, nurses, social workers, custodian staff, and kitchen workers. Please take a moment and appreciate someone at Presumpscot with a little note, email, or call. Thank you.

 

5th Grade Farewell:

Grade 5 families, we are starting to gear up for the end of the year. The fifth grade farewell is on Friday, June 14th from 10-11:30. We hope to see all of you as we celebrate our 5th grade students. 

 

The Social Work Corner:

Kind Mind Breath: Otto, from 1st grade, has taken our deep dive into deep breathing to the next level. He created his own breath during Kind Mind the other day and called it the shark breath. You rise up on the inhale, and you lower down on the exhale, while your hands are behind your head like a shark fin. Try it with your kids and thank you, Otto, for adding to our deep breathing tool box all on your own. 

Closet Clean Out / Summer Activity Kits: To help ensure all of our students have summer clothing over the hot months, Nurse Nell and myself are accepting gently used summer clothing items, sizes 5T - boys / girls 10-12. We are also accepting sunblock, bug spray, crayons, coloring books, card games, etc. to have ready to pass on to families who want them over the summer months (think summer activity sets). Feel free to bring them to my office anytime between now and June 1st. If you are in need of any of these items, do not hesitate to reach out (morsec@portlandschools.org). 

Before and After Care / Rec: A reminder that Before and After Care through the Portland Rec Department opens up for registration on July 10th at 8:00 am. See this link for more information. And set an alarm to remind you! 
 

FTO Corner:

Please come join us on Friday, May 17th, for Happy Wheels Night. It is $11 per skater. It is bound to be a great time.
